V2G is a technology that allows two-way transmission of electricity between an electric car connected to a charging station and the power grid.
The future of the electricity system
V2G charging points allow a two-way flow of energy in the form of charging or discharging an electric vehicle. During periods of sudden increase in demand for electricity on the grid, fully charged vehicles can return energy to the grid. The process itself is very simple and requires no special equipment. The charged, high-voltage battery of an electric car can discharge by connecting to a charging station, which operates on the basis of a smart cloud. The flow of energy is carried out by the car's control unit (ECU) and a similar unit in the charging station.
Vehicle-to-grid is smart charging that goes a step further and opens up a wide range of possibilities in this field.
